
BIOGRAPHY
Micah Kenney, soprano, is a consummate learner of the art of singing and enjoys performing in operas and musicals alike. Kenney received her bachelor’s degree from Idaho State University (2020) under the tutelage of Dr. Geoffrey Friedley. While at ISU she sang in the ISU Concert Choir and the ISU Chamber Choir under the direction of Dr. Scott Anderson. The ISU Chamber Choir, of which Kenney was a member, had the privilege of performing at the Northwest Division Conference of the American Choral Directors Association in Portland, Oregon in March of 2018.
Kenney participated in the Sun Valley Music Festival Chamber Program every summer from 2016 to 2020. Through the SVMF Kenney was able to perform in several opera scenes productions singing selections from Mozart’s Die Zauberflote, The Impresario, Le Nozze di Figaro, and Don Giovanni as well as Adina’s cavatina from Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’amore and the “Flower Duet” from Delibes’s Lakme. Additionally, Kenney has also been able to perform in several musical productions. In 2017 Kenney appeared as Fruma Sarah in the Idaho State University summer production of Fiddler on the Roof as well as appearing the following year in the chorus of Hello Dolly. In the spring of 2021 Kenney appeared in two community productions first in the chorus of Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella and then as Whitney in Legally Blonde.
While pursuing her Masters of Music (2023) from the University of Utah, Kenney’s performance appearances included a concert performance of Cosi fan tutte as Despina, Gilbert and Sullivan scenes from H.M.S. Pinafore (Josephine) and Pirates of Penzance (Mabel), staged performances of Gianni Schicchi (Nella), Suor Angelica (La Zelatrice), Sweeney Todd (Ensemble) and A Christmas Carol (Ghost of Christmas Future) as well as a semi-staged recital of Bach’s Coffee Cantata (Liesgen).
Throughout her education Kenney has had the privilege of working with incredible teachers through coaching’s and master classes such as Gary Wedow, Celine Byrne, Hugh Russell, Paul Dorgan, James Bobick, Richard Leech, Dr. Robert Breault, Maya Lahyani, Diana McVey, Nancy Maultsby, and Dr. Isaac Hurtado. Kenney is currently pursuing her Masters of Music from the University of Utah under the tutelage of Julie Wright Costa.
